Futures Fins

Futures Fins

Futures Fins is a surfboard drift brand that dates back to 1996. It was created by the Longo brothers who originally worked in the aerospace industry.

In 1996, they decided to devote their lives to their true passion: surfing. They first settled in a workshop in Huntington Beach, California. They produce, create and test the first drifts.

Driven by the desire to always go further in design, the Longo brothers are constantly pushing the limits of what is achievable. Thus the brand's goal is to create quality, technical and top-of-the-range products. Designs are constantly evolving and the Research and Development team is often called upon to make the necessary product improvements.

Surfing has been around for many years, and Futures is constantly adjusting its products and constructions. The brand is supported by the largest shapers or board manufacturers. She has surrounded herself with the greatest surfers of the moment such as John John Florence with the John Florence Signature or Jordy Smith. These collaborations allow Futures Fins to develop its models according to the evolution of the sport and the new needs of professionals.

A TECHNOLOGY BASED ON MATERIALS

As for the case, Futures Fins was the first brand to offer a pre-laminated fibreglass case. Futures boxes have the particularity of being both top-of-the-range and very resistant.

The brand has six technologies in the construction of surfboard daggerboards. These different constructions have new features that will meet the needs of most surfers. They are as follows: Blackstix, Generation, Alpha, Honeycomb, Techflex or Control.

The manufacturing techniques of these technologies are numerous and come from advanced studies. Futures fins are primarily known for their excellent weight/robustness ratio.

This ratio is acquired through the use of new materials such as carbon fibre. Which has very interesting properties because it is both ultra-light and very robust.

Each construction is aimed at a particular type of surfer and wave type. In order to better help practitioners to equip themselves, Futures has developed a fun and very easy to use guide. Ilk allows anyone to better understand how drifts work in sports practice.

A TAILOR-MADE SURFING EXPERIENCE

Anyone who practises this sport knows that surfing is above all a combination of conditions, a kind of superposition of meteorological and geographical events that no one can control in the middle of nature.

This is what makes the magic of sport, and this is what makes each session unique. Futures is trying to respond to this by opening its catalogue of technologies and products. Each drift corresponds to a type of person (gauge, technique) but also to a type of wave.

The drifts are thus noted from 1 to 10 and this makes it possible to give information on the characteristics of the drift. This new feature is crucial and very interesting because drifts totally modify the behaviour of a board. It is therefore important to understand the specificities of each drift and their program.

THE NUMBER RIDE

The Ride Number is the tool developed by Futures to describe the specificities of a drift set. Because let's not forget, the choice of daggerboards greatly increases the quality and technicality of your surfing.

Thus, the lower the Ride Number, the more control the drift provides. That is to say, it will be more suitable in powerful waves where the board does not need to generate speed because it is the wave that does the work.

A higher Ride Number corresponds to drifts that generate a lot of speed. Ideal for smaller conditions or for smaller boards.

Based on the Futures benchmark, Control and Techflex constructions generate the most grip and will therefore be more suitable for powerful waves. Alpha and Honeycomb technologies offer an average ratio, they are the most versatile models. Finally, the Generation and Blackstick innovations, due to their rigidity, can generate a lot of speed and are therefore more suitable for surfing in small conditions.

Futures Fins is therefore a manufacturer of top-of-the-range surfboard daggerboards. The Label continues its commitment to equip professionals but also beginners. They stand out on the market by offering innovative, high-performance and top-of-the-range products.

The objective is to make surfing easier for any rider by offering a complete range of surfing equipment that meets the multiple possible weather conditions and will support you in the most extreme conditions.
